What It Really Takes To Make Money Online

By

I have spent years learning of ways to make money outside the normal nine to five job. In that time I have learned a vast amount about finding and creating multiple streams of income. Everyone these days is looking for an extra source of income, in many cases people are turning to the internet to find it. Like in all parts aspects of employment though, there are truths, myths, and scams to really creating a source of income.

Before you start down the road of finding multiple sources of income, let’s look at the real truth of making money online.  Regardless of the method, plan, or idea you have to make money there are certain things you need to know and remember. These tips will help you avoid the scams, BS, and help you to understand what it is like to really make money online.

Getting Rich Quick - There is NO way to get rich quick unless you hit the lottery or find a sack of money. Every time you hear someone got rich the first month they started making money online let it go in one ear and out the other. While everyone dreams of getting rich quick, I dream of it myself, it doesn’t happen.

Hard Work – While working on the internet isn’t the same as physical labor, it is still hard work. It will drain you mentally, physically make you hurt sitting at a computer all the time, and you will probably gain some weight. It takes a while to get use to using your brain instead of your body to do your work all the time. Some people can’t stand sitting for long periods of time either, so working online is not for everyone.

Time – If you hate working over time, hate working weekends, thinking about work all the time then being self employed may not be for you. Making money online is just another form of self-employment. If you have ever been self-employed than you know you will work much more than 40 hours a week and you will always be thinking about work. It isn’t uncommon for self-employed people to work 60-80 hours per week. If you want to make money online thinking you won’t have to work a lot, forget it. It may not be a 9-5, forty hour work week; you will still work more than you ever did for someone else.

Failure – Do not expect all your money making efforts to succeed. Failure is part of working for yourself, how you view failure is what will help you or hurt you in your effort. Never view failure as nothing but a learning experience. You never really fail; you only just learned things you would not have if you had succeeded.  Everyone fails at one point or another, failing in one of your money making efforts online is a lesson in succeeding. Do not believe anyone if they tell you they have never failed, everyone fails at one point. In my own efforts to make money online I have failed many times, and from each one of those failures I have learned a great deal.

“Spending Money to Make Money”, a statement that is very true in making money online or any other way of creating a source of income. How that money is spent though, can be a great help or a major waste in your efforts. I can’t tell you what you should spend money on in your efforts to make money. I can however tell you that everyone out there is trying to make money; some of those people do it by trying to selling information which you can get for free. Before you spend money on information, do the smart thing, find the free information yourself. It will take you some time but you will be learning in the process. The internet also makes finding free information fairly easy also.

Some people are trying to make money by selling “programs” that promise to help you make lots of money. Usually they promise the money to come in weeks or a few months. The truth is a lot of these programs are scams. While the programs look good on paper, in practice they are often illegal, immoral, or something you would not feel comfortable doing in person.

To be fair though, some of these “programs” are real. You can make money doing the program they are selling. They leave out a few basic truths though; you aren’t the only one using the program, it does take a lot of hard work, it does take money of your own, it does take a lot of time, it might take you having a A++ credit rating, or other things I didn’t list here.

Call it “the little details”. People selling “programs” designed to teach you how to make money often leave those details out; they do this thinking you won’t notice and usually are a down point in the selling of the program. Just like an A++ credit rating, if you tell someone this program only works if you have a great credit rating those with poor credit won’t buy it. Usually those with poor credit seek ways to make money more than a person with a A++ credit rating anyway.

Common Sense – I have also told people that most things are just a matter of common sense. Before you throw work, time, and money into a project take a step back and look at the common sense of what you are doing. If something doesn’t like or sound right, explore it more, learn more about it before you jump into it all the way.

This is just a few things I have learned over the years. While they tend to be pretty simple, we often forget the simple things when we see the glitter of gold.
